TA3: Data Model or Prototype

For TA3, you have two options: Describe the Data Model, or Build a Prototype.

Option 1: Describe the Data Model
Present a comprehensive analysis of the data needs in the business process you are investigating. The analysis must be based on an interview with your professional contact for the team project.

You should apply the knowledge and skills you learned from the database lectures and individual assignment to this Team Project section. Please refer to the class lesson on database processing for resources and additional materials.

The data model must specify at least three entities (illustrated as tables). You should clearly indicate the primary key of each table. Each table should contain at least 3 fields, one of which is the primary key. Please also make up some sample data (for at least 3 records in each table). You should also specify relationships amongst the tables, and the cardinality of each relationship.

Describe each of the key elements of the data model in a narrative form, based on input from your professional contact. (15 points)

The narrative writeup must be accompanied by visuals, graphs or tables that help communicate your ideas effectively. The visuals must illustrate relationships, their cardinality, and keys of all tables (20 points)

Your writing should incorporate materials from credible sources, including your textbook, or other materials recommended by the instructor. Please cite at least one source (e.g., the textbook) in APA style. (5 points)

Option 2: Build a Prototype
Your team can build a prototype of a potential system that improves the business process that the client described in TA2. You should provide a description of the purpose of the prototype, and how to use it, with a link to your prototype system. (25 points)
